Florida has a total (non-agricultural)  employment rate in July 2010 of 7,238,800, which shows an increase of about 5,700 jobs or plus 1% over the previous month. Florida’s annual rate of job growth has gone up a little as well (less than a percent), an increase of 2,700 jobs. Amazing, but this growth is the first increase in overall jobs since June 2007.

The jobs that are not doing so well over past year include: construction, financial activities, IT, manufacturing  and Florida’s leisure and hospitality industries. These job losses are staggering, but partially due to weakness in construction of buildings; credit inter-mediation; telecommunications; fabricated metal product manufacturing; and food services.
